Overview
- The new vehicle routing to Disney’s Grand Floridian opened Thursday and sends cars to the resort via the northern Floridian Way roundabout while the resort’s entrance gate remains in its original location.
- Drivers encounter contradictory markings on the approach, including a persistent “Service & Authorized Vehicles Only” sign on the exit used by guests and flashing LED and A-frame signs that try to redirect missed turns.
- Only the southbound lane on the old Floridian Way is open to guest cars, the northbound lane is being used to shuttle people to an overflow dining and Cast Member lot, and the former southern exit is blocked by concrete barriers.
- A Cast Member told reporters the local entrance work is hoped to be finished by mid-October and Apple Maps shows an Oct. 22 date, but the larger World Drive North Phase III program with more roundabouts and a relocated Wedding Pavilion entrance is scheduled to run into late 2027.
- Guests should allow extra travel time, avoid relying on GPS for the new local routing, and consider monorail, bus, or boat options because those modes are not expected to be materially affected by the road changes.
