Disney Reorganizes Streaming Commerce and Data Teams as SVP Ajay Arora Exits

The shake-up ties data work directly to advertising to sharpen monetization.

Overview

  • Ajay Arora, Disney’s senior vice president of product management and engineering, will leave on April 30, according to an internal memo obtained by Business Insider.
  • Commerce and Identity groups will shift into Product Management within the Direct-to-Consumer Streaming Alliance, with Georgina Hill, Chuck Mortimer, and Ana Pavlovic now reporting to product lead Erin Teague.
  • Data Product and Engineering, including the Atlas data tools that give a clearer view of customer behavior, will move under advertising platform chief Tony Donohoe, with Alek Zdziarski and Romit Mehta reporting to him.
  • The company will fold the Commerce, Data, and Identity Alliance into other existing alliances, and coverage notes there is no indication of additional job cuts tied to this move.
  • The reorganization follows recent leadership and cost changes at Disney, including the March appointment of CEO Josh D’Amaro and prior layoffs reported at roughly 1,000 roles.
