Disney Reopens Passholder Reservations and Activates Virtual Queue for Muppets Coaster Previews

A three-drop system aims to manage heavy demand driven in part by a May 22 Star Wars update.

Overview

  • The virtual queue went live Tuesday in the My Disney Experience app, showing three daily drops for Annual Passholder previews on May 21–23.
  • Disney added more Hollywood Studios Passholder reservations Tuesday for May 21 and May 22 after earlier sellouts linked to preview demand and the new Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run mission.
  • Preview access uses timed drops at 7 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 p.m., with the earliest window requiring a Hollywood Studios reservation, the midday drop requiring a reservation to any park with prior entry, and the last drop open to all Passholders without a reservation.
  • Passholders who ride during previews get a free on-ride photo, and the May 26 public opening will run standby and Lightning Lane instead of a virtual queue.
  • Reporters expect fast-filling drops and heavier crowds through opening week, which could make Lightning Lane return times harder to secure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
