Disney Files Construction Notice for Former Aunt Polly’s Site at Magic Kingdom
The permit signals a shift into civil and water-infrastructure work that will support the Piston Peak National Park redevelopment.
Overview
- Walt Disney Imagineering filed a Notice of Commencement for “general construction” at 4975C Caribbean Way on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, confirming active work on the former Aunt Polly’s footprint.
- The permit names Phillips as the contractor and the company’s civil and power expertise suggests the current phase focuses on underground utilities, power systems and water-management for planned rivers and waterways.
- Tom Sawyer Island and Aunt Polly’s closed permanently on July 7, 2025 and the Aunt Polly’s building was demolished later in 2025 to clear the site for the new land.
- Piston Peak National Park is being developed as a Cars-adjacent, Rocky Mountain–styled land with two attractions—a off-road rally ride and a family attraction—and a new original character called Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore, with no public opening date announced.
- The Piston Peak work is part of a larger Magic Kingdom reconfiguration that also includes a Villains-themed land and could change guest routes, sightlines and the Rivers of America water infrastructure.
