Disney Extends Typhoon Lagoon Closure Through Feb. 3 as Arctic Cold Grips Central Florida

The extension follows NWS extreme cold alerts after record lows with hazardous wind chills across the region.

  • Walt Disney World now targets Wednesday, Feb. 4 for Typhoon Lagoon’s reopening after adding one day to the planned Jan. 31–Feb. 2 downtime.
  • The National Weather Service posted an Extreme Cold Warning through 10 a.m. and a Freeze Warning through 11 a.m. Monday with wind chills of 15–20 degrees and temperatures in the mid to upper 20s.
  • Another Freeze Warning runs from 11 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s and widespread frost expected.
  • Central Florida logged multiple record lows, including 28°F in Orlando, 27°F in Sanford, 25°F in Daytona Beach, and all-time February lows of 24°F in Melbourne and 23°F in Fort Pierce.
  • Universal Orlando adjusted operations and SeaWorld reported ride downtime due to the cold, and forecasts show a brief warm-up Wednesday before cooler air returns late week.
