Disney Confirms Tropical Americas Attractions and Shows On‑Site Progress at Animal Kingdom

Extensive cultural research and active construction are intended to shape Encanto and Indiana Jones experiences so they align with Animal Kingdom’s conservation and nature themes.

Overview

  • After D23 on August 18, Disney publicly confirmed the new land’s headline attractions and revealed that Harrison Ford was used as the model for the Indiana Jones audio‑animatronic.
  • The Indiana Jones ride, titled Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, sends riders into a Maya temple and through a portal to the Maya Underworld where a serpentine guardian called the Tsukán figures in the finale.
  • Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto will take guests inside the Casita, feature returning voice actors from the film, have no height requirement, and present a rainforest filled with more than 50 animals native to Colombia.
  • Construction crews are visibly advancing on Pueblo Esperanza with emerging rockwork, carved columns, temple steel framing and carousel elements, and Disney targets a 2027 opening for Tropical Americas.
  • Imagineering says the project involved archaeologists, anthropologists and Indigenous Maya consultants and won public praise from Disney Legend Joe Rohde, a combination meant to help the new land fit Animal Kingdom’s values and shape fan acceptance.
