Disney Believe Midship Gigablock Floats Out at Meyer Werft

The completed midship section moves the build into hull assembly and starts work toward outfitting for a planned late‑2027 debut.

Overview

  • The first gigablock, containing the ship’s midship and the Grand Hall, floated out of Meyer Werft on Friday as a key construction milestone.
  • Meyer Werft is building the Disney Believe in three pre‑outfitted gigablocks that will be welded together to form the hull.
  • Gigablocks are very large ship sections with walls, plumbing, and wiring already installed, with individual sections able to weigh more than 31,000 tons.
  • Next steps are finishing the forward and aft gigablocks, welding all three sections together, and then proceeding with interior outfitting and tests ahead of sea trials.
  • Disney is sharing staged updates through a Ship’s Log on the Disney Parks Blog while the ship’s themed public spaces tied to Encanto, Frozen, Moana, Snow White, and The Little Mermaid are being developed.
