Disney Begins Construction to Expand Magic Kingdom Ferry Dock

The work signals preparation for a fourth ferryboat to ease guest flow at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Overview

  • Crews have started land clearing and excavation on the Magic Kingdom side of the Seven Seas Lagoon for a floodplain compensation area tied to a dock expansion project.
  • State water management regulators approved Disney’s permit earlier this year and the permit requires wetlands offset work that explains why visible work is set back from the existing dock.
  • Permit plans call for a new roughly 6-foot wooden dock to let cast members manage boats without blocking the guest walkway and for limited hardscape changes near the boarding area.
  • Disney confirmed a fourth ferryboat named Meg Gilbert Crofton is being assembled on property in sections and the company is targeting a 2027 debut for the vessel.
  • The dock and fleet work aim to boost arrival capacity and operational flexibility at the Transportation and Ticket Center to help handle higher guest volumes expected with upcoming park additions and peak summer crowds.
