Disney and Ravensburger Push Lorcana Into Collector Market With New Boosters, Ultra‑Rare 'Illustrious' Cards and Park Exclusives

D23’s roadmap signals a deliberate move to premium, scarce products that deepen park tie‑ins and may increase resale pressure and distribution risks.

Overview

  • At D23, Disney and Ravensburger laid out a multi‑set roadmap for Lorcana that includes Hyperia City (coming in October), Into the Inkdark (Collector Boosters debut) and Cosmic Quest in 2027.
  • Collector Boosters will ship with 12 premium foil cards per pack and introduce an Illustrious rarity class with six Illustrious cards per set and only 23 serialized copies of each card.
  • Ravensburger said some Illustrious cards will not be legal in Core Constructed play and Collector Boosters will be sold through Ravensburger Play Hub stores, Ravensburger’s online store, and select Disney locations.
  • Disney confirmed a park tie‑in strategy that returns Lorcana to EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts in 2027 with an EPCOT‑exclusive Figment card and other event‑linked offerings including a Beauty and the Beast Curator’s Collection.
  • The announcements follow earlier July drops that produced crowd and resale problems, raising concerns that added scarcity and premium products could intensify distribution challenges and safety risks for collectors and stores.
