Overview
- Reports published Tuesday show The Walt Disney Company agreed to a $50 million settlement to resolve a 2022 federal class action that accused its carriage deals of raising live-TV streaming prices.
- Anyone who held a YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream subscription between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026, may be eligible to claim a share of the fund.
- Claim forms can be submitted online or by mail by the Sept. 8, 2026 deadline and claimants should use the unique notice ID or contact the settlement administrator for help.
- The settlement requires claimants to certify subscription dates under penalty of perjury, does not require receipts, and will pay out pro rata amounts after the court’s Jan. 14, 2027 final-approval hearing.
- The agreement is limited in scope because Disney denied wrongdoing and did not admit liability, related suits such as the FuboTV case remain unresolved, and industry carriage disputes over ESPN have been a long-running driver of the litigation.
