Disney Adds Mandalorian and Grogu Mission to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

A rebuilt Unreal Engine 5 visual pipeline enables multiple mission variants, refreshed crew roles, new destinations.

Overview

  • The Mandalorian- and Grogu-themed bounty-hunt mission went live Friday, May 22 at both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, letting guests ride alongside Din Djarin and Grogu in the updated Smugglers Run.
  • Before takeoff Hondo Ohnaka briefs crews on a New Republic deal that sends flights first to Tatooine and then to one engineer-selected destination among options such as Death Star wreckage above Endor, Coruscant, or Bespin.
  • Walt Disney Imagineering rebuilt the attraction’s real-time visuals using Unreal Engine 5 with ILM assets and upgraded hardware from partners including Epic Games and NVIDIA to enable responsive, multiple-mission play and a more interactive engineer role.
  • Opening-day demand produced heavy crowds, a roughly 15-minute rope-drop delay and initial posted waits near 50 minutes, and parks launched new themed food and merchandise such as a Grogu jetpack sipper and BDX droid bucket.
  • The update continues Disney’s strategy of inserting current Star Wars IP to boost replayability and retail traffic, and it preserves a flexible preshow so the same queue can present era-neutral or Mandalorian-era missions.
