Disney Acquires YouTube Hit 'Gracie's Corner' for Disney+ and Disney Jr.

The deal brings a music-driven preschool franchise into Disney’s lineup while keeping the creators’ original channel available on YouTube.

Overview

  • Disney announced the agreement on Thursday, June 11, 2026, acquiring global streaming and linear rights to more than 120 shorts and 18 themed compilations from Gracie’s Corner.
  • The series will debut on Disney+ and on Disney Jr. at 7:00 a.m. ET/PT on Monday, June 15, 2026, with an initial drop of 68 shorts and seven compilations and more content rolling out through 2026.
  • The Hollingsworth family will retain ownership and work with Disney to develop new original Gracie’s Corner content while existing videos will remain available on the channel’s YouTube site.
  • Gracie’s Corner began as a family project in 2020 to increase Black representation in preschool media and has grown to about 6.3 million YouTube subscribers, nearly 10 billion views, a HarperCollins book deal, a sold-out 2025 live tour, and four NAACP Image Awards.
  • Industry observers say the move reflects a broader trend of major platforms licensing creator-led IP to reach built-in audiences and add diverse, music-driven preschool programming to their lineups, which could expand global reach and commercial opportunities for the brand.
