Discord Lands as a Native App on Meta Quest Headsets

The release embeds full Discord servers, messaging and calls into Quest VR to make voice, video and gameplay streaming easier for players and creators.

Overview

  • Discord went live on the Meta Horizon App Store on June 30 and is available for Meta Quest headsets, with reports highlighting availability on Quest 3 and 3S.
  • The Quest app delivers the core Discord experience in VR, including access to all your servers, direct messages, group DMs and voice calls.
  • VR-specific features let users join video chats as their Meta Avatar and stream gameplay directly from the headset to Discord without routing through a browser or another device.
  • Qualifying users who download and sign into Discord on Quest can claim one free month of Discord Nitro in a limited promotion running from June 30 through September 30, unlocking higher-quality Go Live streaming and larger upload limits.
  • The native app removes prior workarounds like sideloading or using a phone for voice chat, which should simplify multiplayer sessions and creator workflows and tighten social integration between Quest and other gaming platforms.
