Diesel Falls Below E10 at German Pumps for First Time Since March

ADAC warns the edge is slim given diesel’s import dependence.

Overview

  • Diesel, which slipped below E10 on Saturday, averaged €1.990 per liter versus €1.994 for E10, ADAC reported.
  • Compared with Friday, diesel fell by 0.9 cents per liter, while E10 did not move.
  • Since early April’s peak, diesel has dropped about 45 cents per liter versus roughly 20 cents for E10, a shift not caused by the equal 16.7‑cent fuel rebate.
  • Relief is uneven across states, with diesel cheaper in 12 of 16 and E10 still lower in Hamburg, Bremen, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
  • Europe’s shortage of diesel refining and reliance on imports, plus risks around the Strait of Hormuz, keep prices jumpy, which hits truckers and construction firms that use the most diesel.
