Overview
- The commuter bus caught fire around 7–8 a.m. on Acceso Este before the Arenales crossing in Guaymallén while traveling from Rivadavia toward the Mendoza terminal.
- The driver reported smoke from the dashboard, pulled to the shoulder, and ordered an immediate evacuation that left all passengers and the driver unharmed.
- Flames engulfed the vehicle within minutes and the unit was completely consumed, leaving a total loss.
- Volunteer and central fire crews, police, and municipal transit teams responded, and an initial punctured hose complicated the first suppression attempt before the fire was extinguished.
- Westbound lanes were partially closed during the response, causing heavy congestion and slow traffic on lateral routes used as alternatives.
