- The Phoenix Species Project launched on Aug. 4 with an initial $200 million commitment split evenly between the Bezos Earth Fund and Re:wild, marking the largest single philanthropic pledge focused solely on species recovery.
- Organizers published a Phoenix 100 list that covers mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates and plants from about 30 countries, naming examples such as the golden-crowned sifaka, the Hickory Nut Gorge green salamander and the Malayan pangolin.
