Dianella Dog Attack Hospitalises Woman and Kills Her Pet as Two Dogs Are Impounded

The case is now under the Dog Act, putting possible fines or jail on the table.

Overview

  • CCTV from 6.40am Saturday shows two larger dogs mauling a Dianella woman and ripping away her small pet, which later died, and she needed surgery for hand and arm injuries.
  • A neighbour ran in with two sticks to push the dogs back, and City of Stirling rangers later seized the pair and took them to an impound.
  • A third dog was badly injured in the incident and was later euthanised, and its owner was also hurt, according to the mayor.
  • The City of Stirling says it is investigating under Western Australia’s Dog Act and will interview the victim, witnesses and the owner, with a court case and penalties up to $20,000 or even jail possible.
  • WA Police say the matter is civil at this stage, and RSPCA WA urged secure containment and proper training because loose, unsupervised dogs can show dangerous pack behavior.
