Overview
- CCTV from 6.40am Saturday shows two larger dogs mauling a Dianella woman and ripping away her small pet, which later died, and she needed surgery for hand and arm injuries.
- A neighbour ran in with two sticks to push the dogs back, and City of Stirling rangers later seized the pair and took them to an impound.
- A third dog was badly injured in the incident and was later euthanised, and its owner was also hurt, according to the mayor.
- The City of Stirling says it is investigating under Western Australia’s Dog Act and will interview the victim, witnesses and the owner, with a court case and penalties up to $20,000 or even jail possible.
- WA Police say the matter is civil at this stage, and RSPCA WA urged secure containment and proper training because loose, unsupervised dogs can show dangerous pack behavior.
