Diablo IV’s Season of Slaughter Goes Live, Letting Players Become The Butcher
The limited event previews systems Blizzard plans to roll into April’s Lord of Hatred expansion.
Overview
- Players trigger the transformation in Helltide by spending Meaty Offerings at Shrines of Slaughter, which drop from Tortured Gifts that cost Aberrant Cinders, with deaths halving carried Cinders.
- Short Slaughterhouse dungeons let players run as the Butcher for high-tier loot and XP and can award Meaty Offerings; entry requires Slaughterhouse Keys.
- The Ceremony of Slaughter replaces standard PvP during its window, building a Savagery meter before the top contender claims the Butcher’s Idol to transform in the Fields of Hatred.
- A global Killstreak system now tracks rapid takedowns across activities and pays out experience and seasonal reputation scaled by the tier reached.
- A limited DOOM: The Dark Ages crossover adds themed cosmetics such as the Shield Saw, Slayer’s Flail and the Head of the Cyberdemon, and Blizzard has set April 26 for the Lord of Hatred expansion on PC and consoles.
