Diablo IV Season 11 Overhauls Loot, Combat and Progression as PTR Opens Oct. 21

Blizzard sets patch 2.5.0 for public testing before the December 9 season launch.

Overview

  • The PTR runs October 21–28 to gather feedback on sweeping system changes aimed at reducing RNG and restoring more tactical combat.
  • Itemization shifts include choosing a single tempered affix per item, non-uniques gaining a fourth base affix, and Masterworking raising item Quality to 20 with a rerollable Capstone upgrade.
  • A new Sanctification step can add a bonus Legendary power, convert or add greater and unique affixes, or make gear indestructible, after which the item can no longer be modified.
  • Monster behavior is rebuilt with clearer roles and 20+ new affixes as elites spawn inheriting minions, while survivability adds a Toughness stat, rating-based armor and resistances with diminishing returns, and potions set to four charges that heal 35% on a 30-second recharge.
  • Competitive and endgame updates bring back leaderboards via The Tower timed dungeon, replace Seasonal Renown with a Season Rank system while keeping Renown in Eternal, and reintroduce the Lesser Evils with Azmodan debuting as a new world boss.
