Dhruva Space Wins ₹105 Crore RDIF Grant to Build 500-kg Satellite Platform

The award signals a shift toward factory-scale satellite production for a more self-reliant space industry.

Overview

  • Dhruva Space, which signed the Enterprise Technology Evaluation agreement Thursday, secured ₹105 crore from the government’s RDIF for Project Garud.
  • The programme will develop a standardized, modular 500 kg-class satellite platform built for constellation-scale telecom, Earth observation, and security missions.
  • The company plans infrastructure and industrial processes for high-volume output targeting up to two satellites per day, or roughly 500–600 a year.
  • A flat-pack design will let satellites stack for launch and speed up assembly, which cuts integration time before liftoff.
  • Dhruva says the made-in-India platform will lower dependence on foreign buses and strengthen supply chains under the DST’s ₹1 lakh crore RDI push.
