Overview
- India’s aviation regulator introduced the Electronic Personnel/Pilot Licence (EPL) for ATPL holders, extending its digital licensing program to senior pilots.
- Pilots can access and present their verified credentials on the eGCA mobile application without carrying physical documents, according to the DGCA.
- The EPL is designed to prevent tampering and to enable instant validation by airlines, regulators, aerodrome authorities and international bodies.
- DGCA said India is the second country to implement this ICAO‑aligned digital licensing approach, supporting Digital India and Ease of Doing Business goals.
- The rollout, launched in New Delhi by DGCA chief Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, follows the February 2025 digitisation of CPL and FRTOL licences.
