DFB Imposes Heavy Fines and Partial Fan Ban on Dynamo and Hertha

The sport court ordered tighter ticketing and security rules that could change matchday access and revenue if the measures are upheld

Overview

  • The DFB sport court announced the sanctions on May 20–21, fining Dynamo Dresden €91,200 and Hertha BSC €152,000 while imposing a partial spectator ban on Dynamo for two home matches.
  • The partial ban targets the K blocks at Dresden’s Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, totalling about 9,000 standing places, with one match active and a second match suspended on probation until June 30, 2027.
  • For the next two direct meetings between the clubs the court ordered that away allocations be cut to half, all guest tickets must be personalised, each visiting club must supply at least 30 stewards, and the clubs must draft a joint safety concept with the DFB.
  • DFB sport-court chairman Stephan Oberholz said pyrotechnics were used “as a weapon” during the April match, which led to two stoppages and at least 17 injuries, facts the court cited in justifying tougher sanctions.
  • Dynamo has filed an immediate appeal demanding an oral hearing before the full sport court, so the announced measures are due to be implemented but could be confirmed, reduced, or modified through the appeals process.
