  • Tuesday night in Cologne the Deutscher Fernsehpreis began with the "Nacht der Kreativen," an industry dinner that presented eleven craft awards for direction, camera, editing, music and design.
  • Winners reported from the first night include director Bettina Oberli and entertainment director Carsten Seibt, camera team Eike Köhler, Kim Kristin Mauch and Björn Kurtenbach, and book writers Rolf Basedow, Nicole Armbruster and Gabriela Sperl.
  • The two-evening format separates technical and craft prizes from the public TV gala so some programmes can win only on the first night and lose all chances if they do not prevail there.
  • The prize is run by a rotating stewardship this year led by RTL, judged by an independent jury chaired by journalist Stephan Lamby, and supported by major broadcasters and streaming partners such as ARD, ZDF, Sat.1, Deutsche Telekom, Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video.
  • The televised gala, hosted by Barbara Schöneberger and broadcast by RTL, will present the remaining 18 categories and deliver the wider public exposure that the Flora dinner does not provide.
