Overview
- The 68th Ford Fireworks is set for Monday night in downtown Detroit and city officials expect hundreds of thousands of spectators.
- City agencies opened Hart Plaza, Spirit Plaza and the new Erma Henderson Park at 2 p.m. with free admission until each site reaches capacity and with weapon-free screening in place.
- Belle Isle will open to vehicle traffic at 2 p.m. with a 3,000-vehicle cap and requires a state Recreation Passport for cars while pedestrians and cyclists may still enter after vehicle capacity is reached.
- Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park is limited to pre-registered, community-distributed ticket holders only and other riverfront parks will be closed to support public-safety operations.
- The City Council moved the minors' curfew to 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., enforcement includes taking unaccompanied youths to the Coleman A. Young Recreation Center and fines of $250 for parents on first offenses which could change crowd behavior and transit use this evening.
