The club says the extra time will be used for final design work, deeper community engagement, and to secure the planned fan experience and neighborhood benefits.

Overview

  • Detroit City FC announced on Tuesday that AlumniFi Field's opening has moved from spring 2027 to spring 2028 to allow more time for planning and delivery.
  • The club opened an appointment-only preview center at The Mercado in Mexicantown where season-ticket deposit holders can view new interior renderings produced by Disbrow Iannuzzi Architects.
  • Demolition of the former Southwest Detroit Hospital is complete and a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Corktown site is scheduled for July 2026.
  • DCFC will play the 2027 USL season at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck and says about 6,000 season-ticket deposits are already on file.
  • The $200 million project calls for a 15,000-seat soccer-specific stadium plus a 421-space parking garage and a 76-unit apartment building with affordable units after prior site remediation work, including removal of PFAS-contaminated water.
