Overview
- A white SUV made an illegal turn on Kelly Drive on Wednesday, June 24, struck and trapped 20-year-old Temple student Bryce Wolfe, who was dragged more than a mile and died at the hospital the next day.
- Police located a suspected 2001–08 Chevrolet Trailblazer on July 9 and have processed the vehicle for driver-side damage, possible red paint transfer, a broken rear window and other forensic evidence.
- The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested 48-year-old Derek Reid in West Oak Lane on Thursday, July 30, on an outstanding April 28 warrant charging rape, sexual assault and corruption of a minor.
- Philadelphia police and the U.S. Marshals have identified Reid as a suspect in the June 24 hit-and-run but officials have not yet announced any hit-and-run charges and say the investigation remains active.
- Wolfe’s family and the Temple community have sought support since his death and police continue to request tips as forensic results from the recovered SUV will play a central role in whether prosecutors press additional charges.
