- UCLA announced the hire on Monday, Aug. 10, naming Carr a volunteer special advisor to head coach Bob Chesney who will be on staff this season.
- Carr’s duties are focused on offensive game planning and direct work with the quarterback room, with access to film study and expected sideline presence while limiting full-time commitments for family reasons.
- Carr retired from the NFL in May 2025 because of a serious right-shoulder injury, and he has said six NFL teams contacted him about a playing return but he will not play and is moving into coaching.
