Deployed Airman Says House Sitter Took His Husky and Car From Colorado Home

Local volunteers are searching for both the dog and the sitter hired through a pet-sitting platform.

Overview

  • Andrew Beckham, who is deployed in Japan, says a sitter hired via Trusted House Sitters took his 11-year-old husky, Maverick, and his 2014 Subaru Forester from his Aurora home.
  • Doorbell-camera images obtained by FOX31 Denver show a man guiding Maverick out the front door and loading him into the vehicle.
  • Beckham says the sitter called 911 about a possible break-in about an hour before leaving and then stopped responding.
  • Trusted House Sitters has not located the sitter, and neighbors have printed flyers and searched locations including Denver-area airport parking garages.
  • Maverick is microchipped and listed on lost-pet sites, and Beckham notes distinct markers including one blue eye, one brown eye, and a missing toe on his front left paw.
