Denza Z9GT to Debut in Paris With BYD’s 1,500 kW Flash Charging for Europe

BYD plans a proprietary megawatt charging push using battery‑buffered sites to bypass grid upgrades.

Overview

  • Denza, BYD’s premium brand, will unveil the Z9GT in Paris on April 8 as the European launch platform for the Flash Charging system.
  • BYD says Flash Charging delivers up to 1,500 kW through a single cable with 10%–70% in 5 minutes, 10%–97% in 9 minutes, and 20%–97% in 12 minutes at −30°C.
  • The Z9GT uses BYD’s second‑generation 122 kWh Blade Battery, with a claimed range of up to 800 km in rear‑wheel‑drive form and a tri‑motor option exceeding 960 PS.
  • An initial wave of Flash stations is planned for Europe this year with a focus on Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the UK, and early access is expected to be limited to BYD drivers.
  • BYD reports thousands of high‑power sites already operating in China and targets roughly 20,000 globally by end‑2026, using on‑site energy storage, while performance claims await independent verification and hinge on connector and standards compatibility.
