Dell Revives XPS 13 With $699 Start and $599 Student Offer

The Computex unveiling signals a direct push at Apple’s MacBook Neo by using Intel’s lower-cost Wildcat Lake chips to deliver premium materials and long battery life at a cheaper entry price.

Overview

  • Dell unveiled the new XPS 13 at Computex on May 31 with a $699 starting price and a time-limited $599 back-to-school deal for eligible students aged 16 and over.
  • The launch model uses Intel’s entry Core Series 3 “Wildcat Lake” chips (Core 5 320) with 8GB–16GB single-channel memory and will ship soon, while higher-end Core Ultra “Panther LakeSKUs and a second color arrive later this summer.
  • Dell describes the hardware as premium for the price: a 13.4-inch 2.5K InfinityEdge touchscreen with 30–120Hz variable refresh, a CNC aluminum chassis, a backlit keyboard, a 2.2-pound weight, and up to 17 hours of video streaming battery life.
  • The $599 student price is a promotional offer not a permanent MSRP and the entry price reflects trimmed base RAM and storage because rising DRAM and SSD costs make higher configurations significantly more expensive.
  • Watch for availability and pricing of upgraded configurations this summer and for competitive pressure on Apple and other PC makers as Intel’s Wildcat Lake enables lower-cost premium-feeling laptops.
