Delivery Driver Killed, Worker Injured in Pre-Dawn Stabbings at Oswego Chick-fil-A

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage to determine charges, with motive under review.

  • Police responding around 5 a.m. found a suspect being restrained at the scene, took him into custody and provided medical aid to the injured worker.
  • Preliminary video shows the attacker entered through a back door around 3:10 a.m. and fatally stabbed a delivery driver inside the closed restaurant.
  • Around 4:56 a.m., contracted maintenance worker Sergio Uribe Jr. was stabbed outside; he and his mother helped subdue the suspect and called police, and he is in stable condition.
  • The Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force and State’s Attorney’s Office are assisting the investigation, and the Kendall County Coroner responded.
  • The Kane County Bomb Squad found no public threat after checking nearby unclaimed property, and the Oswego Chick-fil-A remained closed Thursday as inquiries continued.
