Delhi Police Identify Six in Golf Links Hostage Robbery, Launch Multi-State Hunt

The case shows how a newly hired, unverified house help can defeat layers of security in Lutyens' Delhi.

Overview

  • A domestic worker and five accomplices held four relatives hostage in a Golf Links bungalow Thursday evening and fled with gold worth about ₹25–30 lakh within 15–25 minutes.
  • Police say the gang planted the worker in the household after a recommendation, and the family had not completed background verification.
  • CCTV reviewed by investigators shows the suspects arriving in a light grey SUV with a fake number plate and approaching in pairs before exiting through a seldom-used back door.
  • Officers have identified all six suspects and are conducting raids in Bihar’s Madhubani as well as in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana while analysing phone records and area footage, and officials have not announced arrests.
  • The break-in at the high-security enclave has prompted tighter visitor logging by local guards and highlighted how blind spots such as missing or defunct cameras can be exploited.
