Overview
- Delhi Police arrested Naveen Kumar, 32, from Haryana during a raid in Rani Khera that shut an illegal plant making counterfeit protein powders.
- The action followed an earlier case this month in which two men were caught with about 150 kg of fake supplements and counterfeit brand stickers, whose disclosures led investigators to the unit.
- Officers seized sealed tubs, fake stickers and holograms, empty jars, raw materials such as maltodextrin and flavoring agents, manufacturing machines, and a QR code printer used to mimic brand checks.
- Investigators told Hindustan Times the group ran two manufacturing sites and moved more than 7,000 kg of counterfeit product through retailers across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad over the past 18 months.
- The probe remains active as police work to map the supply chain and identify others involved in the counterfeit operation.
