Delhi Police Bust Suspected Lashkar–ISI Module With 8 Arrested Across Tamil Nadu and Bengal

Police say a Bangladesh-based Kashmiri linked to Lashkar directed the cell, which operated on forged identities under cover of garment-factory jobs.

Overview

  • Six suspects were picked up from Tiruppur garment units in Tamil Nadu and two from West Bengal, and all are being moved to Delhi for interrogation.
  • Investigators say seven of the eight are Bangladeshi nationals who used forged Aadhaar cards, with eight phones and 16 SIM cards seized for forensic analysis.
  • The probe began after pro‑Pakistan and ‘Free Kashmir’ posters appeared at Delhi Metro sites; four suspects allegedly pasted posters during the AI Summit on instructions from abroad.
  • Police identified the alleged handler as Shabbir Ahmed Lone, a Kashmir native now in Bangladesh with past LeT links, and say devices contained reconnaissance material including images of a Chandni Chowk temple.
  • Security remains tightened at Delhi’s religious and heritage sites following intelligence on a possible LeT IED plot, while separate IEDs found in Amritsar and Safapora were defused with no proven link to the Delhi warning.
