Overview
- Crime Branch teams, which set a trap near Kalyan Jewellers on Tuesday, arrested four suspects in a dating-app honey trap while saying two accomplices are still being traced.
- Investigators say the gang lured men through fake female profiles on Tinder and other apps, moved meetings to flats or isolated spots, then staged sham police raids to force payments.
- In the complaint that triggered the operation, a man matched with a woman calling herself Kirti, was taken from Janakpuri to a flat, threatened with a false rape case, and told to pay ₹15 lakh.
- Police say the victim was confined in his own car and driven to ATMs to withdraw cash, and that one accused, Sushil Kumar, was caught wearing a fake police uniform during the interception.
- In a separate probe, Shahdara Cyber Police arrested Arman from Mewat on sextortion charges, recovered two phones, 11 SIMs, and nearly 150 obscene videos, and urged victims to report through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
