Delhi Police Arrest Odisha Supplier in Interstate Ganja Case
Police traced the source after a Ghaziabad drug seizure exposed links to Kandhamal.
Overview
- Delhi’s Anti-Narcotics Squad brought Aakash Kumar Digal to the capital on Saturday, March 28, and formally arrested him in the Kalyanpuri NDPS case.
- Officers say they tracked him across forested parts of Odisha and caught him on March 26 after a chase from Kandhamal to Bhubaneswar.
- The probe began when two men were stopped in Ghaziabad on March 12 with 21.73 kg of ganja and about 46 g of smack worth roughly Rs 12 lakh, according to police.
- During questioning, one suspect named Digal as the supplier for deliveries that were split up and sold across Delhi-NCR, and investigators are now questioning him for links across the chain.
- Police say ganja grows in Kandhamal’s hilly forests, which are hard to patrol, and traffickers use that cover to feed urban demand.
