Overview
- Police identified the victim as Anroop Gupta, 48, who ran the Chhattisgarh Sadan canteen in Dwarka.
- Officers say prime accused Happy alias Suraj lured Gupta to a rented flat in Matiala Extension on February 18, where he was tied up, assaulted and fatally stabbed after refusing to pay.
- The group allegedly stole Gupta’s gold jewellery, dismembered the body with a machete, packed the remains in three plastic bags, and used his SUV to dispose of them near Vrindavan on the night of February 19–20.
- CCTV from the building and toll plazas, NHAI FASTag data, call detail records and a Rapido rider’s account helped reconstruct movements, leading to recovery of body parts on February 28.
- Delhi Police arrested Happy/Suraj, Bhupender, Balram and Rakhi, reported confessions during interrogation, and named Neeraj as absconding, with the case registered at Bindapur and coordination with Uttar Pradesh police ongoing.
