Overview
- Special Cell officers detained 28-year-old Ankit Maan near Dariyapur Pulia on Munak Canal Road after an exchange of fire around 5:30 am.
- Police say Maan fired four rounds and was shot in the leg as officers returned fire, and reports differ on whether a policeman was wounded or protected by a bulletproof vest.
- An automatic pistol, three live cartridges and a motorcycle were recovered, and a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
- Investigators describe Maan as the son-in-law and close associate of jailed gangster Rajesh Bawana and link him to at least nine cases, including murder, robbery and extortion.
- In separate operations, two suspects were arrested after a Ghazipur encounter in which one was shot in the leg, and earlier this week two men tied to the Aya Nagar shooting were held in Dwarka after being wounded.
