Overview
- Abhishek Tiwari, 24, a Delhi University School of Open Learning student from Shahdara, was arrested a day after a 25-year-old Maujpur resident was found dead in a Lahori Gate hotel room.
- Investigators say CCTV and hotel records show the two checked in around noon on March 11 and the man left about 5 pm after locking the room from outside.
- Crime Team and FSL documented blood on the bed and on nearby clothes and collected samples, and police registered a murder case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
- According to police, Tiwari told interrogators he planned the killing because she pressured him to marry and that he strangled her after a sexual encounter.
- A post-mortem was conducted at LNJP Hospital, the body was handed to the family, the accused has been remanded to police custody, and reports on cause and manner of death are awaited as police examine other angles including sexual assault.
