Delhi Police Arrest 14th Suspect in Alleged ISI-Linked Arms Trafficking Case

Investigators are using terror laws to track a foreign supply chain that moved high-end guns to Delhi gangs.

Overview

  • Praveen Kumar, 45, was arrested Sunday by the Crime Branch, which says he acted as a receiver for the module and was a close aide of gangster Rohit Chaudhary.
  • Officers recovered an Italian-made semi-automatic pistol and five .32-bore cartridges from him, bringing case totals to 25 foreign-made weapons, including a sub-machine gun, and 221 rounds.
  • The action is part of FIR No. 49/26 registered on March 14 under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which gives police wider powers to question suspects and follow the money.
  • Police say Kumar worked as a property dealer in Aya Nagar, used illegal land grabs to fund gambling and betting, carried a ₹2 lakh reward, and began sourcing guns after meeting co-accused Nishant Arora in jail.
  • Investigators allege the network had links to Pakistan’s ISI and funneled weapons made in countries such as Italy and Brazil into India, and they are questioning Kumar to identify sleeper cells and active hubs across the NCR.
