Delhi Motorist Hits, Drags Traffic Constable During Drunk-Driving Check in Janakpuri

Police say the constable was uninjured, with the car impounded as legal action moves forward.

  • Traffic staff stopped a Hyundai Santro near Bharti College on Lal Sai Marg around 5:52 pm during a special drive against drunken driving.
  • The driver, identified as Nilesh Kumar of Dwarka Bagdola, allegedly tried to flee instead of halting at the checkpoint.
  • Constable Mohan Pal was struck and carried on the bonnet for a few metres before falling to the road.
  • Nearby people helped the traffic team bring the vehicle to a halt, and police reported that the constable was not injured.
  • The car was impounded and a challan issued under Motor Vehicles Act sections 185, 184, 179 and 209, with further action based on the traffic staff’s complaint.
