Delhi Luxury Hotels Sell Out for AI Summit Week After Rs 30 Lakh Suite Spike

Hotel groups say the eye-catching spikes reflect scarce suites with most standard rooms pre-booked at lower rates.

Overview

  • A February 12 check found no availability at The Oberoi for February 18–19 and only a single Taj Club Suite at Taj Palace priced at Rs 3,51,000 with other categories sold out.
  • Earlier listings showed presidential suites priced at Rs 25–30 lakh and some standard categories at Rs 5.5 lakh for peak summit nights.
  • The Leela Palace rolled back several February 10 peaks by February 12, including a Luxury Suite from Rs 17.3 lakh to Rs 4.3 lakh, while availability tightened.
  • The Hotel Association of India reported weighted average room rates of roughly Rs 40,000–60,000 per night and said most base rooms were contracted in advance at negotiated prices.
  • Hospitality bodies met Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as demand swelled from the AI summit alongside wedding dates and the T20 World Cup, with organisers having pre-blocked 250–300 rooms.
