Delhi Launches DTC Route 740C to Link West Delhi with Anand Vihar

The route aims to cut multiple transfers to provide residents cheaper, predictable access to major rail and interstate bus terminals.

Overview

  • DTC put Route 740C into operation on Sunday to provide a direct bus corridor between Dichaon Kalan Depot in West Delhi and the Anand Vihar transport hub in East Delhi.
  • The service follows a planned path through Baprola, Kheri Baba Pul, Vikaspuri Main Road, Uttam Nagar, Janakpuri, Lajwanti Garden, Dhaula Kuan, ITO and other central stops before terminating at the transit hub.
  • Buses start at 6:00 a.m. and then run at roughly 45-minute intervals to give predictable, all-day service for commuters.
  • Officials say the route is designed for office-goers, students, senior citizens and long-distance travellers and should spare thousands of passengers from multiple transfers and higher travel costs.
  • The launch is presented as part of the Delhi government’s wider push to expand integrated, commuter-friendly public transport and could improve access to jobs, schools and long-distance connections if ridership and frequency meet demand.
