Delhi Launches CM SHRI AI School Model, Targets 7,000 Smart Classrooms by March 31

Officials cast the NEP-aligned model as a citywide upgrade to government schools focused on AI, skills, industry exposure.

  • Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and chief minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the first CM SHRI School at Sarojini Nagar and launched projects for 75 schools across Delhi.
  • Delhi announced a timeline to convert 7,000 classrooms into AI-enabled smart classrooms, with operations expected before the current financial year ends on March 31.
  • The CM SHRI model bundles eight elements including AI-based classrooms, career counselling labs, ICT labs, digitised libraries, multi-sectoral skill labs, language labs, inclusive education resource rooms and a competitive-exam portal.
  • Officials said 175 ICT labs with about 7,000 computers are being set up along with more than 100 digital libraries and over 175 language labs in government schools.
  • A dedicated portal will support JEE, NEET, CUET, CLAT and NDA preparation, and the program introduces mandatory industry internships to provide practical work experience.
