Delhi Jal Board Approves ₹600 Crore for 11 Decentralised Sewage Plants and ₹250 Crore Zindpur STP

It will boost sewage treatment in underserviced Outer Delhi drainage zones through long-term funded decentralised plants

Overview

  • The board sanctioned over ₹600 crore to construct 11 decentralised sewage treatment plants across Najafgarh, Galibpur, Saranpur, Shikarpur, Hasanpur, Jaffarpur, Kazipur and Khera Dabar drainage zones
  • A separate 15 million gallons per day Zindpur STP was approved at a cost of ₹250 crore to intercept untreated sewage entering the Yamuna
  • Each project includes 15 years of operation and maintenance funding to ensure sustained performance by contracted private operators
  • This package represents the first tranche of project-level funding under the city’s multi-thousand-crore Yamuna revival vision unveiled earlier this year
  • The decentralised approach targets drain-adjacent sites where space and cost constraints make large centralised plants impractical
