Delhi High Court Extends Rajpal Yadav’s Sentence Suspension to April 1 After ‘Substantial’ Payments

Citing substantial repayments, the court scheduled a final hearing for April 1.

Overview

  • Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma declined to send the actor back to custody, extending the interim suspension of his sentence and bail until April 1.
  • Yadav’s counsel told the court that around ₹4.25–₹4.5 crore has been paid to M/s Murli Projects Pvt Ltd, with an additional ₹25 lakh demand draft handed over during the hearing.
  • The complainant’s application to vacate the suspension of sentence remains pending, but the court said there was no reason to cancel relief at this stage.
  • The bench directed Yadav to either present a concrete settlement proposal to repay the dues or argue the case on merits at the next hearing.
  • Yadav was convicted in 2018 under Section 138 for cheque dishonour linked to a 2010 film loan and received a six‑month sentence that he has intermittently challenged, including after a February surrender and subsequent interim bail on deposits.
