Overview
- Delhi Transport Corporation has invited bids to install heavy commercial vehicle charging at nine depots in Rohini Sector 37, Keshopur, Nangloi, Kalkaji, Sukhdev Vihar, Nand Nagri, Ghazipur and Hasanpur.
- The initial phase is estimated at over ₹31 crore and specifies 1,600 KVA compact substations with 240 kW chargers designed to charge hundreds of buses and other heavy vehicles.
- Officials said the tender window will run about a month, with civil and electrical works to start after contract awards next year.
- Separately, DTC has begun electrification at the Nand Nagri, Wazirpur and Sukhdev Vihar depots, with charging infrastructure targeted for completion in about four months at roughly ₹10 crore per site.
- The push follows September’s inauguration of six switching substations and is tied to plans to lift the e-bus fleet from about 3,400 toward 6,000 in the near term and add up to 8,000 by 2026.
