Overview
- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recommended the transfer of 39 doctors posted at Tihar and Mandoli jails for five years or more and proposed about 35 replacements as part of a roughly 74-post reshuffle.
- The recommendation was formally sent to Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu and needs his approval before the transfers take effect.
- The Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch arrested Dr Vinod Kumar Ranga in a corruption probe into procurement of medicines, surgical items and equipment that has focused scrutiny on the Central Procurement Agency.
- The government says the reshuffle aims to strengthen institutional capacity and improve human resource management by reassigning long-tenured specialist doctors and GDMOs to new posts.
- Officials previously carried out a large restructuring at the Central Procurement Agency that moved over 40 medical, paramedical and administrative staff after a vigilance raid, and the procurement investigation could trigger further administrative or legal actions.
