Delhi CM Inaugurates 256‑Slice Spectral CT, Neuro Cath Lab and Upgraded Neuro ICU at GB Pant Hospital

Officials say the new units will cut wait times by expanding advanced diagnostic capacity.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta commissioned the facilities on February 9 at GB Pant Hospital in New Delhi.
  • The 256-slice spectral CT scanner, billed as the first in a government hospital in North India, offers high‑resolution imaging with lower radiation for faster diagnosis of cardiac, oncological and neurological conditions, according to officials.
  • A monoplane Neuro Cath Lab costing about ₹9 crore will support endovascular procedures for stroke, aneurysms and other neurovascular cases and is projected to treat more than 1,200 patients a year.
  • The Neuro ICU has been renovated into a 16‑bed unit with an Operation Theatre complex and advanced monitoring systems at an estimated cost of around ₹2 crore.
  • Officials put the combined outlay for the three projects at ₹31 crore, including roughly ₹20 crore for the CT scanner, and said the upgrades aim to benefit patients from Delhi and neighboring states.
