Delhi Clears Rs 802 Crore Plan to Rebuild 241 Roads With Wall-to-Wall Resurfacing by Year-End

The approach replaces patch repairs with full-width resurfacing to deliver more durable, cleaner roads.

Overview

  • The Rs 802.18 crore programme will be co-funded with Rs 643.36 crore from the Central Road Infrastructure Fund and Rs 158.82 crore from the Delhi government.
  • Nearly 400 km across 45 Assembly constituencies will be upgraded by the PWD through phased works intended to limit traffic disruption.
  • Each corridor will undergo base-layer assessment, strengthening and improved drainage to curb monsoon waterlogging and support long-term road safety.
  • Officials say fully sealed, uniform surfaces are expected to cut road dust and lower particulate pollution generated by damaged stretches.
  • Priority routes include August Kranti Marg, Outer Ring Road, Rao Tula Ram Marg, Najafgarh–Jharoda Road, Dr K. N. Katju Marg and Loni Road, with monitoring in place and about 150 km built using similar methods last year.
